GEAR UP TUTORS

Understand the issues and concerns of our community

Assist IN CLASS with: Math & Sciences

Duties: Assist students at SUHSD GEAR UP schools by providing academic support in assigned classes. Our focus is on assisting students to become independent learners. Individual tutorial centers may assign other duties to tutors when they are not working with students.

      Assist with:   Life-skill mentoring
                          College and University Field Trips
                          Educational Field Trips
                          Student Leadership and
                          Motivational Workshops
                          Various GEAR UP awareness
                          and participation campaigns

Duties: GEAR UP Mentors are responsible for mentoring all Class of 2011 students. Provide one-on-one or classroom presentations and workshops on college-related topics. Participate in GEAR UP extra-curricular events during the semester. Provide supervision of students during college visits, workshops, and club meetings.
